vietnam women's museum - new information
The Vietnam Women’s Museum reopened October 2010 following four years of major exhibit renovations. The Museum’s three main galleries follow the themes of Women and Family, Women and History, and Women’s Fashion and Clothing. Visitors learn about lively rituals, marriage customs, childbirth and family life , women’s clothing and stories about women in war. All museum text is written in Vietnamese, English and French. The Museum also hosts temporary exhibitions that reflect contemporary life and social issues. These exhibits represent the voice of the community, especially the voices of disadvantaged women.A souvenir shop sells Vietnamese women’s handicrafts . The Museum’s restaurant is always ready to serve visitors delicious, traditional meals.

Thanks for telling us. I'm keen to see the new exhibitions. Last time I was there, there was a terrific exhibition about street sellers, which told about things from different points of view and made me more aware of what the work was like from the point of view of the sellers. Many of them come in from the countryside where they struggle to keep their families going. At the time the rest of the museum looked pretty sad. My memory is that "opera" is a longterm expat (many of whom tout their own stuff I know).

mooslie, nasty cynic as usual. Poster 'opera' has never said an unkind word to anyone on this forum. Registered in 2003, posts limited to useful info, unlike you (and myself) filling the forum with nonsensical crap. And RK was not accusing opera of being a tout, merely asking for an address. You have no business passing judgement on long-time posters. The Women's Museum is well worth a visit. An easy walk from there to the Hoa Lo Prison Museum, Quan Su Pagoda, and the restaurant Quan An Ngon at 18 Phan Boi Chau, for a wide assortment of Vietnamese "street food" in one very pleasant spot. A whole delightful day, actually, all just in that neighborhood a few minutes south of Hoan Kiem Lake.

opera:In the past s/he has informed us of things going on at the opera house, open days at the citadel and flag tower and now about the Women's Museum. All of which has been presented in a helpful and matter of fact way.
mooslie: I hope you are going to apologise for this unwarranted attack on an excellent poster.

I'm going! A day hanging around a Hanoi neighborhood, trees, eating (we'll bring our own drinks - except for the coffee) and I keep flashing on a coffee shop near a bank by the lake, all them bank peeps taking a break. I'm starting to get excited now.13
Thanks Opera. I've put it on my must-do list for Hanoi.14
Mr moomy reference was mainly to the latter part of the sentence ie:-
many of whom tout their own stuff I know
There are cetain touts on the forum continually self promoting.
I am not necessary saying 'opera' is one of them.
My comment was
They also denegrate anything that looks competitive to their barrow being pushed in order to make themselves look good!
Casual visitors and regulars to this forum can easily figure out who they are! It ain't rocket science.
